Abortion in the Church

Fostering Reconciliation with Christ

Summit 2023

Are women missing service on Mother's Day or Sanctity of Life Sunday?

Do men or women go silent at the mention of abortion?

or quietly leave?

Wonder why women angrily protest pro-life presentations?

Not sure how to respond to an admission of abortion?

As a pastor, ministry leader, or concerned Christian, you may be perplexed by behaviors of parishioners

or

wonder why women won't serve in children's ministry!

We don't claim to have all the answers, but as post-abortive women and men healed by the saving grace of God, we want to encourage and empower you to pastor your parishioners hurt by their abortion "choice."

In 2015, Jeannie extended the outreach to post-abortive women around the globe as a closed group on Facebook.

Then in 2017, Jeannie began facilitating a virtual healing and recovery bible study called "Worthy of Love" for any woman in PATH. The bible study is offered quarterly and has been well-received by over 130 women.

Jeannie recently published her memoir titled Rescued by Grace: A Personal Journey to Hope and Healing.

She Found His Grace

Indiana

At the age of 13, Serena was raped and faced a pregnancy. Her parents were desperate for help and the only help offered to them was abortion. Abortion was supposed to be the answer after her trauma, but it instead tore her family apart and nearly destroyed her life.

Terrible things happened behind the clinic doors. It was a terrible secret she buried for years, a secret that affected her marriage, how she parented her children, and how she viewed God. At her lowest point of her life, her marriage almost ended, and she was numbing her pain with drugs and alcohol.

Then Serena had an encounter with God that changed everything. She is the author of She Found His Grace, her life story of healing and finding God’s grace after abortion and sexual trauma. She has a heart for everyone to know that it is possible to find God’s grace after abortion.

Serena is also the Founder of She Found His Grace ministry and offers one-on-one pain-to-purpose healing coaching. The ministry offers online abortion regret and recovery healing community and classes.

Abiding Care Pregnancy Resource Center

Wisconsin

Carrie Kraucyk serves as executive director of Abiding Care PRC in Wisconsin going on 10 years.

At the age of 20, she found herself staring down at a positive pregnancy test and wrestling through a pregnancy decision.  That decision recently made her a GRANDMA for the first time!

20 years almost to the day of looking at that pregnancy test, God brought her kicking and screaming into the work of PRCs, the toughest but most rewarding job—besides being a wife and mother—that she has ever had.

Pre-PRC, Carrie's background was in marketing and radio. Though her life was marked by early trauma, she has seen how the power of the Gospel has healed her and set her free. She has a passion for other women to experience that same thing in their lives—no matter what the issue might be.

Terri Baxter is the Director of H3Helpline. She is the former Director and Founder of Riverside Pregnancy Center in Denver, CO where she served for 10 years. Terri also has 15 years experience in managing and training an abortion recovery phone line.

Terri has had the privilege of answering and talking to thousands of hurting people and assisting them to find hope and healing resources. She has taught and led numerous recovery groups, and helped with weekend recovery programs.

Terri has her own story of Help • Hope • Healing after abortion. She chose abortion when she was in college, right after abortion became legal. She thought, “How could abortion be so wrong if it is legal?” Her boyfriend at the time was encouraging abortion: “No one will have to know.” Also, she didn’t want to embarrass her family with being pregnant and not married.

Terri was able to keep her decision a secret for years. It wasn’t until she saw her first ultra sound of her second child that she came to the realization of her choice – she had terminated life. Terri was able to suppress her emotions and hide her abortion for several more years.

One day while sitting in church, the pastor opened up the service for testimonies, and a young girl stood up and asked forgiveness for her abortion. That is when Terri’s journey of healing started.

First she acknowledged her regrets and loss, and then she asked God’s forgiveness and help in healing and restoration.

God gave Terri a passion to tell her story so other women could break free from the bondage of their hurt and pain, and be renewed and restored to live in freedom. She wants all post-abortive women and men to find their Help • Hope • Healing after abortion.

Cheryl Krichbaum, Founder of MybodyMyworship, is the award-winning author of ReTested: The Story of a Post-Abortive Woman Called to Change the Conversation. She also authored Worship to End Abortion: Your Prayer Guide, The Missing Sex Ed Lessons online courses, and a growing number of  online writing courses (including pro-life memoir writing ).

After her own abortion, Cheryl was the walking dead until Jesus ever so gently asked her about it. She blamed everyone else, but Jesus just waited patiently. Once she accepted responsibility, He led her through a few more life tests as a way of training her and healing her in preparation for stepping into the pro-life movement. But she didn't want to go!

God, however, won that wrestling match.

Cheryl equips Christ followers to compassionately reach the abortion-minded for life and for Christ through in-person and online speaking events, sex education courses, and twice-per-year prayer campaigns. Every spring and every fall, Cheryl leads Christians of every denomination to worshipfully pray over 40 days for the end of abortion using her Prayer Guide.
